Junior Series Results for Guernsey's newest surfers!
This weekend, 4-5th October, saw the AIB / Freedom Junior Series (Round 3), a surfing competition for under 18's in the Channel Islands, take place at St Ouen's Bay in Jersey. Two local youngsters from Guernsey; Lily Misselke-Evans and Katie de Carteret came over to Jersey to take part in the event. They attended the Guernsey Surf School throughout the summer, and although having never previously surfed prior to joining the Surf school's programmes, managed to obtain 5th and 6th place respectively in the novice under 12's division in challenging 2-3ft onshore conditions. They were competing against several seasoned surfers from Jersey and did extremely well to rank as high as they did with so little surfing experience under their belts...so a big well done!!
Next season the Guernsey Surf School will be running several Junior Contests in Guernsey to encourage more local youngsters to become involved in surfing and surf lifesaving, and to represent their island like Lily and Katie have done. If you would like to get involved, check out our programmes and links to the left of this page.
