The Guernsey Surf School is owned and operated by a tight knit group that live and breath everything surfing, Our goal is to pass on our years of knowledge to dramatically speed up your learning curve, teaching best practices in a fun and healthy way.

Johnny Wallbridge

Johnny started surfing at the age of 14 and was instantly addicted! Surfing has seen him travel the world seeking out perfect waves and trying to live life to the fullest, Clocking up numerous visits to Australia, Indonesia, Mexico, Morocco, Hawaii, Ireland, The Canary Islands and all of Europe.

In the world of competition surfing he’s been a member of the Channel Islands Surf Team competing at the European championships throughout his late teens and 20’s. He has won the Guernsey Championships 7 times (2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2014, 2015), was crowned Channel Island Champion in 2006 and in 2015 won the British Senior Championships in Croyde.

His Free Surfing was highlighted in the Christmas 2007 Issue of Wavelength (Britain’s biggest Surf Magazine) were he received the Cover shot after a trip to Mexico.

Rob Ozanne

Rob is a surf fanatic through and through, attempting to get in the water every time the waves are good, his world revolves around work, surf trips and good times with his mates! His obsession of the sport over the last 30 years has enabled him to travel the world, racking up passport stamps from Hawaii, Australia, Caribbean, Indonesia, Morocco and all of Europe.

Steve Hardy

The GSS Manager – Steve’s passion for surfing and developing skills of new riders really shines through at the school, he’s a highly qualified surf coach and beach lifeguard that takes great pride in his job and loves helping customers achieve their goals. He simply love’s the outdoor life! “Give me a board and some waves and I’m the happiest man alive…Mr Simple really”!

Nick Hill

Our head coach, Nick Hill has great people skills along with a passion for surfing and outdoor life. He brings a great method of teaching thanks to his skills on the slopes in the winter as a ski instructor. He’s prompt, organised and loves to get new surfers up and riding in the fastest possible time whilst maintaining a high level of fun.

Will De Garis

Senior Coach, Will De Garis is a well accomplished surfer regularly competing at a local and national level, along with his beach lifeguarding and surf coaching qualifications makes for a great surf instructor, for total beginners in particular Will’s knowledge of surfing fundamentals along with his laid back nature will make you really feel at ease when learning these new skills.
